Meet Harley: A Happy Lad

Harley, an Irish Terrier, joined our family when my brother Dan adopted him in 2012. Harley is now 11 years old and remains one of the friendliest dogs we’ve known. With boundless energy and a knack for digging in the dirt, Harley has enjoyed romping around neighborhoods, parks and beaches following his nose from one scent to the next over the last decade. He also smiles when greeting someone he recognizes as a familiar sniff.

When traveling for work, Harley stays with members of our family while my brother is out of town. On a longer trip recently, my mother accepted the responsibility to care for the lively boy. Over previous stints with Harley, she had been noticing a decline in his energy levels, and a slower response to getting up from his favorite place on the sofa.
